Eric Martsolf wins Adonis 2006!

There's a new Adonis in town!

In last night's final live results show for the Adonis 2006 contest, Passions' Eric Martsolf was crowned the winner of the 3rd annual contest, the most popular feature every year here at soaphunks.net.

Martsolf's win makes him one of only three men to win the title of daytime's hottest man, joining Adonis 2004 winner Justin Bruening from AMC, and Adonis 2005 winner Mark Collier from ATWT. That means that each TV network has now had one Adonis winner.

More than 142,000 votes were cast in this year's contest, in which voters whittled a list of 32 semifinalists down to 12 finalists over a 16-week period beginning in June. Check out http://soaphunks.net/finalists06.php for a recap of this year's finalists.

Just after winning, Martsolf himself had this to say via ericmartsolf.com:

"What can I say?....Wow. Those of you who know me best, know that putting the word "Adonis" next to my name in any context cracks me up--but what the heck!! I am honored and excited that my fans out there spent the time and energy to make it happen, and for that I am darn proud. The facts speak for themselves now...I have the BEST fans in the business. Thanks you guys again for the unwavering support!"

Love, Eric Martsolf

Thanks to everyone for voting all summer long!

Hunky Hutzler out at DAYS

It's official: the brutally hot Brody Hutzler has been let go from DAYS, a victim of recent budget cuts and/or debuting headwriter Hogan Sheffer's powerful pen.

Hutzler became an immediate favorite of soap hunk afficianados when he debuted in Salem in 2004. He won the Soaphunks.net Award for Hunkiest Newcomer that year, and won in 2005 for Best Eyes. He received a total of 6 nominations, including Best Hunk of 2005.

Hutzler has also been a finalist in this site's annual Adonis contest in all three of its years, something true of only four other soap hunks.

This announcement makes impending departures for Hutzler, Austin Peck, Jason Cook, and Kyle Brandt, as well as a bump to recurring status for Rhasaan Orange. This is no way to win Hunkiest Soap this year, DAYS!
