The 12th Annual Soaphunks.net Awards Roundtable!

The ballot for the 12th Annual Soaphunks.net Awards has just made its debut, and as has become tradition, three of my site's contributors (Jason, DC, and Soapgal) held their annual roundtable in which they discussed the nominations, explained why certain nominees got their votes, and predicted the winners in each race. We'll see how smart they were on Wednesday, December 15, when the winners are revealed live at soaphunks.net/chat at 10pm ET/7pm ET.

Jason: Hard to believe it's that time of year again.

Soapgal: I know.

Jason: What do you think of this year's nominations overall?

DC: Overall, they were pretty good. A few snubs (where was Dominic Zamprogna?) but I can't complain.

The nominees were very worthy in most cases.

Jason: I know some are upset that Galen Gering is nowhere to be found.

Soapgal: Eh, Galen doesn't do it for me, so that didn't bother me.

Jason: And Galen's been rewarded plenty in previous years.

Soapgal: I thought I would be mad that Mark Lawson didn't get Best Hunk, but I'm ok with it.

DC: I was actually okay with that, too. I feel he would have lost to the competition anyway.

Jason: So, whose face did you feel was the finest? Chandler Massey for me.

DC: I mentioned that I just voted tonight, and I gave my vote to Nic Robuck. I was actually swayed by the evidence. He's a cutie I totally went in thinking Massey or Thad Luckinbill, but then my mind got changed.

Jason: All good choices in this category, in my opinion. Okay, face for Ms. Soapgal?

Soapgal: Robuck as well.

DC: I think Chandler Massey will win.

Jason: I do, too.

Soapgal: Me too.

DC: He's so cute, and DAYS is very popular.

DC: This was no contest for me. I went with Mark Lawson!

Soapgal: No question.

DC: His blue eyes draw me in every time I see him.

Jason: The evidence swayed me here.  I went with Michael Muhney. I figured it would be a contest between Lawson and Martsolf for me.

DC: Cool. The evidence is doing its job.

Jason: And who will walk away a winner?

DC: This is tough to call I think

Soapgal: Eric Martsolf.

Jason: I think Martsolf as well.

DC: Burton & Martsolf are both very popular. Beemer's peepers are also quite nice, but I'll go with Martsolf.

Jason: Most vivacious voice? I went with Martsolf.  Love the video clip for him. But I know James Scott will win.

DC: I voted for the MAN himself, James Scott. You can't escape the sexiness of his British tongue!

Soapgal: Yeah, I vote Martsolf, but I'm sure James Scott will win.

DC: I agree!

Jason: Most scintillating smile? Martsolf got my vote once again. I LOVE his smile.

DC: I went with another DAYS hunk, Chandler Massey. He's got an infectious grin that I really like.

Soapgal: I vote Martsolf.

Jason: Since this is his only category, though, I think Zamprogna will win.

DC: I also wouldn't be surprised if Zamprogna took it. I say he will.

Soapgal: I guess you're right. The DAYS votes probably will be split.

Jason: Whose hair is hottest to you?

DC: I voted for John-Paul Lavoisier. I am a sucker for a good blonde I think it made him stand out from the competition.

Jason: I struggled with this one, but I love JPL's haircut, so I went with him as well.

Soapgal: I would go with him, too.

Jason: I think Barash will win, however.

Soapgal: Yeah, I think so, too.

DC: Given GH's popularity, he may, but I am going to stick with Lavoisier as the winner here.

Jason: Let's move on with the body categories.  Whose arms are most awesome, in your opinion?

DC: This is another one where I was completely swayed by the evidence. I voted for David Fumero! Though it wasn't hard to pick someone from OLTL.

Soapgal: I would love to throw Max Tapper a vote, but I can't abandon Mark Lawson.

Jason: We all went with someone different here.  I had to go with David A. Gregory. As he says in his Best Hunk clip, "All steel!"

Soapgal: (Laughs)

DC: OLTL certainly can be known as "The Gun Show."

Jason: I think Lawson will win here, however.

Soapgal: I sure hope so.

DC: Hard to pick a winner here but GH has a lot of voters out there. I wouldn't be surprised if Tyler Christopher pulled an upset over OLTL's hunk muscle. In the end, I'll say Mark Lawson will take it though.

Jason: It would be Christopher's first win ever, if that happens.

Soapgal: I just had that thought, too. Maybe this is Soapy's way of finally getting Tyler a win.

Jason: Christopher is the Susan Lucci of this contest right now.

Soapgal: Really? Billy Magnussen for me.

Jason: Oh, his bare butt swayed you, huh? I think Beemer will win.

DC: I think David A. Gregory will take this one.

Soapgal: I'm going with Beemer, too.

Jason: I voted for...the man whose washboard does all the laundry in Llanview: David A. Gregory.

I predict that David A. Gregory will win this category, too.

DC: I think this will go Beemer's way.

Soapgal: I say Beemer, too.

Jason: I did also, DC. When his headlights were uncovered for the first time on DAYS, I was mesmerized.

Jason: I think Martsolf will win, though.

DC: I think Chandler Massey may take this one. A real upset!

Soapgal: Wow, that would be an upset! I'll say Martsolf, though.

Jason: A new name for this next category, to avoid confusion. Best Torso?

DC: Yes, everything form the neck to the waist I voted for Mark Lawson, who has always been the total package to me. Though I won't be surprised if Mark comes in 5th place, given the competition.

Jason: I liked all the guys here. In the end, I had to go with Brandon Barash. 

Soapgal: Once again, obvi!

DC: Translation: Mark Lawson for Soapgal!

Jason: Since James Scott is in this category, I'd be shocked if he didn't win, however.

DC: I think the king of DAYS, James Scott, will win. He was actually on my radar in this category. He has a very sexy torso.

Soapgal: I think James will win, too, and it will be a worthy win.

Jason: I had to go with Shawn Christian here.  He's so popular, and I don't remember seeing him without his shirt much this year.

Soapgal: Yeah, he'll probably win.

Jason: Yep, I think he will, too.

DC: I won't be surprised to see Shawn Christian win. He should be shirtless more often, as should all these guys!

DC: I think the Fords will split the OLTL vote and the DAYS army will push Chandler to victory.

Soapgal: Yep, me too.

DC: She meant Aiden, of course.

Jason: I won't be surprised if Justin Hartley wins, though. He’s super popular from his work on Smallville.

Soapgal: Yeah, he seems to be the most visible of the nominees.

DC: I think Justin will win as well.

Jason: I wonder if voters will make Soapy happy and give the win to Don Diamont.

DC: Doubtful. When have voters ever cared about pleasing our site master?

Soapgal: Yeah, I don't see it.

Jason: Good point. Shawn Christian for the win.

Soapgal: Yeah, I bet he'll win, too.

DC: I think Shawn Christian will win it, though Scott Reeves & the GH posse could provide a potential upset.

DC: They may not have the most hunks, but DAYS gets my vote for having the most quality hunks and a variety of them as well.

Jason: DAYS will likely win, I think.

DC: I think DAYS will take this one also.

Soapgal: Definitely.

Soapgal: This is a tough one for me. I think I'll go with David Fumero, although I bet he'll come in last place.

DC: I have that same feeling, Soapgal.

Jason: I had the toughest time on this one. The "For Your Consideration" videos are all so good. I had to go with David A. Gregory, though. And I think Gregory will win, too.

DC: If there's any justice in this contest, David A. Gregory will win. Not only does he have an amazing all-around body, I don't think anyone on daytime, even Mr. Beemer, has been so generous with skin this year and in a variety of ways, than David A. Gregory.

Jason: Well said, DC.

Soapgal: That's true. OLTL has saved a bundle on his clothing.

Jason: Are you agreeing with our prediction?

Soapgal: No, I'm thinking Eric Martsolf will take it.

Jason: Interesting.

Soapgal: Yeah, at the risk of complimenting Soapy, I think he did a good job of mixing it up this year.
